Why Your Pickleball Resets and Dinks Keep Going Long

Before you buy another paddle, watch where your swing starts.

If your resets and dinks keep sailing long, you may be carrying a baseline swing too close to the kitchen. The paddle did not change. The amount of runway your swing needs did.

Swipe through this one before you drop another two hundred bucks on a new paddle... I see this all the time. Your paddle did not suddenly become too poppy. Most of the time, the swing is simply too big for the part of the court you are standing in. The Paddle Runway is the fix: use a longer swing at the baseline, shorten it in transition, and keep almost no backswing at the kitchen. On fast balls, let the incoming pace do the work. Keep contact out front and your grip pressure loose. Fix the mechanics first and your wallet will thank you. #LimitlessPickleball #PickleballTips #PickleballCoach #PickleballDrills #PickleballLife

One rule for three zones: the closer you are to the kitchen, the less distance your paddle should travel.

Fix the mechanics before the equipment

A lively paddle will exaggerate extra motion, especially at the non-volley zone. That does not automatically mean it is the wrong paddle for you. First shorten the swing, loosen the grip, and make contact out in front.

Try it in your next game: make the transition reset a compact block, not a swing. At the kitchen, keep your paddle in front of your hip line. Less runway means fewer balls sailing long.
