Destroy the Bangers

Grab your water bottle and swipe through this one... because we need to talk about the hardest hitters at your local courts. Playing a true "banger" without a defensive plan is like trying to put out a grease fire with a squirt gun. You're just going to make a bigger mess. I see players panic all the time when the heavy fire starts. Here is how you shut them down: * Don't take the bait. If you speed up to match their pace, you are playing THEIR game. You will lose. * Keep them pinned deep and moving sideways. Moving backward or laterally strips away their power. * Master your reset. Keep your paddle tip down... soften that grip and absorb the pace. Drop it right into the kitchen. * Close the trap. Force them into a soft dinking game and watch them panic. The rulebook is pretty clear that you can't smack a volley while standing in the non-volley zone area anyway... so use that to your advantage. Make them start the point over by hitting upward off the bounce from down at their shoelaces. Bangers usually only have one gear. Take away the fastball and they completely fall apart.
