Smash Defense: The Block Reset

Pickleball Tips
Smash Defense - the block reset for handling overheads
Stop the panic swing - counter-swinging a fast ball never works
Loosen your grip to a 3 out of 10 to absorb the heat
Get low with zero backswing and let the paddle do the work
Float a soft reset into their kitchen to recover balance

You just popped the ball up right into their strike zone... and now your opponent is winding up like they are trying to swat a very annoying, neon green fly. Swipe through these slides to learn the block reset. I see this mistake all the time. Don't panic and swing back hard. Here is what you actually need to do: • Stop the "panic swing". Your instinct is to hit a fast ball even faster. Counter-swinging a fast ball almost NEVER works. • Loosen that grip. Drop your grip pressure down to a 3 out of 10. Why do we block instead of swing? Because the only thing a big, wild swing fixes on the court is a hot day. • Get low... hold the paddle steady out front with zero backswing. Just let the paddle do the work to ABSORB the heat. • Float a soft reset right into their kitchen so you can recover your balance. The rulebook clearly states you lose the rally if a live ball hits your body before it bounces. So, basic self-preservation means you need an actual defense. Try this loose-grip block next time you're staring down a massive overhead. It isn't glamorous, but it keeps you alive in the point. #LimitlessPickleball #PickleballTips #PickleballTraining #PickleballDefense
