The 4.0+ Efficiency Rule

Here is something nobody talks about... the best 4.0 players on your court are NOT the ones hustling the most. They are the ones moving the LEAST. Fewer steps = more wins. Sounds backwards, right? But think about it. When you are scrambling all over the court, that means you were out of position BEFORE the ball was hit. You were reacting instead of anticipating. The efficient player reads the play early, takes one or two steps, and is already there waiting. 3 reasons this compounds over a match: 1. Anticipation over reaction. When you read your opponent instead of chasing the ball, you arrive early with balance and options. 2. Court control. Good positioning forces your opponent into fewer angles. You shrink THEIR court, not yours. 3. Energy compounding. Game 1 you feel the same as your opponent. Game 3? They are gassed and you are fresh. That is where matches are won. Next time you play, count your steps during a rally. If you are taking more than 3-4 between shots at the kitchen, you are working too hard. Get there early. Stay balanced. Let them do the running.
