The 4.0 return placement secret: two returns, two totally different points
Deep to the backhand: pin them at the baseline so they never get to the net
Short to the body: catch them mid-step with no room to swing
How to pick: go deep when they stay back, go short when they crash in
Drill it this week: three games, one target per return

Tip for the day... your return is a free shot and most of us waste it. I see this all the time at the 3.5 to 4.0 level. Ball comes back, player takes a big swing, has no idea where it's going, and then wonders why they're stuck at the baseline all point. Here's the whole thing... look at their feet BEFORE you swing. They hang back after the serve? Go deep. Pin them there and they never get to the kitchen line. They hit up from the baseline and you get the next ball at your chest. They crash in after the serve? Go short, right at the body. Feet moving, paddle stuck... that ball pops up every time. Same swing. Different target. That's it. That's the "secret." Try this next time you're on the court. Three games... game one, every return deep. Game two, every return short. Game three, pick the one that broke them. Bottom line? You're not guessing anymore. You're CHOOSING. Send this to your partner. You both need to be on the same page.
